Tailing

Tailings are the materials discarded after the process of separating valuable materials from materials which are not worthy of an ore.
In the mining of coal and oil, said tailings refers specifically to a pure waste left in the water.

Gold Mine Case:
Tailings from the mining of gold minerals generally contain inert (inactive) such as quartz, calcite and various types of aluminosilicates, and normally still contains gold.
In addition, contain one or more hazardous toxic materials such as arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Lead (pb), Mercury (Hg) Cyanide (Cn) and others.
Bauxite Mine Case

Tailings aluminum processing of red mud containing NaOH, sodium cyanide, and fluoride, including the B3 waste
IMPACT Tailings

1.Air acid mine

2.Sedimentasi occurring in the waters can affect, among others, the superficiality and seabed landscape changes, fertility waters, and biodiversity

3.Logam dangerous weight (Arsenic, Mercury)

UTILIZATION Tailings

1. Lightweight construction materials (autoclaved aerated cement (AAC)
AAC lightweight building materials with raw materials of silica sand tailings, has properties as an excellent heat insulation, soundproof materials

2. Building materials and ceramics
Tailings or waste rock from the mine to be made of building materials and ceramic materials, through process CeramextTM. Poses are done in vacuum pressure in a heated room

3. Manufacture of high strength cement, ceramics, bricks.

4. Tailings as concrete mix

5. Tailings to make paving blocks
In the tailings processing (laundering) of bauxite ore contained a high content of quartz sand, the sand is cleaned from impurities mixed cement with a ratio of 8: 1 can be used as bricks and paving blocks.

6. Coal briquette
Tailings batuabara laundering of fine coal which cumulatively can be produced in large numbers. Fine coal can still be dimanfatkan including material for briquettes.

7. Quartz sand as a by-product
